Pharmacology
For treatment of external genital warts (Condyloma acuminatum).
Podofilox, also called podophyllotoxin, is a purer and more stable form of podophyllin in which only the biologically active portion of the compound is present. Podofilox is used to remove certain types of warts on the outside skin of the genital areas.
Mechanism of action
The exact mechanism of action is not well understood. It does appear, however, that it and its derivatives may bind and inhibit topoisomerase II during the late S and early G2 stage. The drug may bind and stabilize the temporary break caused by the enzyme. This disrupts the reparation of the break through which the double-stranded DNA passes, and consequently stops DNA unwinding and replication
Podophyllum is a perennial plant that is valued for its healing properties. It is unpretentious in care and not demanding on the habitat. The natural zone of flower growth is considered to be East Asia and North America. In our country, the climate of the middle band suits Warticon

The rhizome is short, the bush is loose, the stalks are up to 70 cm high, on them are 2 leaves of palm-shaped form. The color of the sheet is marble. Flowering at Emoda begins even before the crown is completely formed: unbroken leaves form a frame for the lower part of the flower. Flowers hanging down are collected in inflorescences of 3-5 pieces. After flowering, large red fruits form.
Landing and care
Despite its exotic origin, podophyllum is unpretentious in leaving. The main method of propagation is rhizome transplantation. Suitable for all types of this culture. For propagation, it is enough to take a segment of the rhizome with a renewal bud and dig it in a new place to a depth of 5 cm.If it is planned to plant several processes, the minimum distance between them should be 25 cm, since the podophyll has the property to grow rapidly. The optimal landing time is the end of August. Fruits are formed in the second year. In one place, the plant lives up to 7 years.
The seed method is only suitable for podophyllus Emod. First, the largest and ripe fruits are selected, which are gently broken and seeds are extracted from them. They must be washed and immediately dropped off to a use drug place. Planting material winters well, sprouts appear only in the spring, but growth retardation can reach up to a year. Emoda can be sown even after winter, but in this case the seeds will need special preparation. 2-3 therapy before planting in the soil, another drug seeds are stratified in the sand. If the planting material of last year’s harvest, then he will need treatment with a solution of manganese.
It is very important to prepare the ground. The future flower bed is dug up to a depth of 30 cm and organic fertilizers (peat, manure) are applied. If the thyroid podophyll is propagated, then it is recommended to establish a border to the entire depth of the site in order to limit the growth of the rhizome.
