Active substance
pharmachologic effect
Hydrochlorothiazide is a drug with a pronounced saluretic effect. Hydrochlorothiazide significantly reduces the reabsorption of liquid, as well as chlorine and sodium ions in the distal tubules. The drug increases the excretion of magnesium, potassium and bicarbonate ions in the urine and reduces the excretion of calcium ions due to exposure to the distal tubules.
By reducing the excretion of calcium in the urine, the formation of calcium calculi in the kidneys is prevented. In addition to the diuretic effect, hydrochlorothiazide Quinaretic has some hypotensive effect and reduces polyuria in patients with diabetes insipidus. A decrease in intraocular pressure was also noted in some patients with angle-closure glaucoma when taking Hydrochlorothiazide. After oral administration, the active component of the drug is well absorbed in the intestine. The maximum diuretic effect develops 4 hours after administration and lasts for 12 hours. Hydrochlorothiazide is excreted by the kidneys, mainly unchanged. The elimination half-life reaches 5-15 hours. The active component of the drug crosses the hematoplacental barrier and is determined in breast milk.
Mode of application
Elderly - 12.5 mg 1 - 2 times a day.
Indications
Arterial hypertension (in monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs);

Contraindications
Hydrochlorothiazide is not prescribed to patients with individual hypersensitivity to the active component of the Quinaretic and other thiazide diuretics, as well as sulfonamide drugs. Hydrochlorothiazide tablets should not be prescribed to patients suffering from galactosemia, lactase deficiency and impaired glucose-galactose absorption.
The drug should pill be prescribed to patients suffering from severe impaired renal function, anuria, severe diabetes and gout, as well as Quinaretic liver function. In addition, it is not recommended to prescribe the drug Hydrochlorothiazide in patients with hypercalcemia, pancreatitis, as well as systemic lupus erythematosus (including a history).
