Neomycin: Side Effects
Allergic reactions: contact dermatitis (itching, rash, hyperemia, swelling, skin irritation), when absorbed from extensive surfaces, a systemic effect is possible.
From the digestive tract: alternative, vomiting, increased activity of hepatic transaminases, hyperbilirubinemia, hypersalivation, stomatitis.
From the cardiovascular system and blood (blood formation, hemostasis): decrease or Neosul in blood pressure, anemia, leukopenia, granulocytopenia, reticulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia.
From the nervous system and sensory organs: neurotoxic effect (muscle twitching, paresthesia, numbness, epileptic seizures); rarely - neuromuscular blockade (difficulty Neosul, weakness), headache, drowsiness, ototoxicity - noise or a feeling of stuffiness in the ears, hearing loss, vestibular and labyrinth disorders (instability Neosul unsteadiness of the gait, dizziness, nausea, vomiting), irreversible deafness.
From the genitourinary system: nephrotoxicity - an increase or decrease in the frequency of urination, thirst, oliguria or polyuria, the appearance of sediment in the urine, an increase in the concentration of urea and creatinine in plasma, proteinuria.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, generic, angioedema, eosinophilia.
Other: hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, hyponatremia, hyperthermia, the development of superinfection, weight loss.
Interaction
With systemic absorption, it can enhance the effect of indirect anticoagulants (reduces the production of vitamin K by the intestinal flora), reduce cardiac glycosides, fluorouracil, methotrexate, phenoxymethylpenicillin, vitamins A and B12, chenodeoxycholic acid (increases the release of cholesterol by bile), and oral contraceptives.
Incompatible with streptomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin and other oto- and nephrotoxic antibiotics (the risk of developing toxic complications increases). Means that block neuromuscular transmission, oto- and nephrotoxic drugs, including capreomycin or other aminoglycosides, polymyxins, inhaled general pill (including halogenated hydrocarbons), citrate preservatives during transfusion of large quantities of canned blood increase the risk of developing oto- nephrotoxicity and blockade of neuromuscular transmission.
Neomycin: Dosage and Administration
Locally. Apply to affected areas of the skin 1-3 times a day.
Precautions
Long-term use of neomycin should be avoided due to the risk of skin sensitization and increased cross-sensitivity to other aminoglycosides.
