Amiodarone is for use only in treating life-threatening heart rhythm disorders.
Bio-Amiodarone is a drug made in South Africa. You need a doctor's prescription to buy it. But its analogues can be bought online anywhere in the world without going to a specialist.
Amiodarone is a complete analogue of Bio-Amiodarone. It has the same composition, dosage and methods of use. Also Amiodarone has a lower cost compared to Bio-Amiodarone.

Side effects
Your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. metoprolol fatigue coughing bisoprolol unexplained weight loss or weight gain yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes propranolol yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes
Warnings
You should not breast-feed while taking this medicine, and for several months after stopping. Amiodarone takes a long time to clear from your body. Talk to your doctor about the best way to feed your baby during this time.
You should not use amiodarone if you have:
- a serious heart condition called "AV block" (2nd or 3rd degree), unless you have a pacemaker;
- a history of slow heartbeats that have caused you to faint; or
- if your heart cannot pump blood properly.
Taking amiodarone during pregnancy may harm an unborn baby, or cause thyroid problems or abnormal heartbeats in the baby after it is born. Amiodarone may also affect the child's growth or development (speech, movement, academic skills) later in life. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or if you become pregnant.
Interactions
Lidocaine (Topical): May enhance the arrhythmogenic effect of Antiarrhythmic Agents (Class III). Antiarrhythmic Agents (Class III) may increase the serum concentration of Lidocaine (Topical). This mechanism specifically applies to amiodarone and dronedarone. Monitor therapy
Encorafenib: May enhance the QTc-prolonging effect of QT-prolonging Agents (Highest Risk). Management: Consider alternatives to this combination. Patients with other risk factors (eg, older age, female sex, bradycardia, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, heart disease, and higher drug concentrations) are likely at greater risk for these toxicities. Consider therapy modification
Domperidone: QT-prolonging Agents (Highest Risk) may enhance the QTc-prolonging effect of Domperidone. Avoid combination
Food interaction
Take without regard to meals.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be avoided throughout treatment.
Grapefruit can significantly increase serum levels of this product.
Pregnancy
- Pregnant women with HIV may be more likely to have this problem.
- They may refer you to a specialist for treatment and monitoring during your pregnancy.
Overview
With the simultaneous use of propranolol, metoprolol, sotalol, arterial hypotension, bradycardia, ventricular fibrillation, asystole are possible.
With the simultaneous use of trazodone, a case of the development of pirouette type arrhythmia is described.
With the simultaneous use of quinidine, the QT interval increases due to the additive effect on its size and the risk of developing ventricular tachycardia of Bio-Amiodarone pirouette type. Increased plasma quinidine concentration and increased side effects.
With simultaneous use, a case of increased side effects of clonazepam has been described, which is apparently due to its cumulation due to inhibition of oxidative metabolism in the liver under the influence of amiodarone.
With the simultaneous use of cisapride, the QT interval significantly increases due another drug the additive effect, the risk of ventricular arrhythmia (including pirouette type).
With simultaneous use, the concentration of cyclosporine in the blood plasma increases, the risk of nephrotoxicity.
A case of pulmonary toxicity with the simultaneous use of cyclophosphamide in high doses and amiodarone has been described.
The concentration of amiodarone in blood plasma increases due to a slowdown in including metabolism under the influence of Bio-Amiodarone and other inhibitors of microsomal liver enzymes.
It is believed that due to inhibition of liver enzymes under the influence of amiodarone, with the participation of which phenytoin metabolism occurs, an increase in the concentration of the latter in blood plasma and an increase in its side effects are possible.
Due to the induction of microsomal liver enzymes under the influence of phenytoin, the rate of metabolism of amiodarone in the liver increases and its concentration in the blood plasma decreases.
Precautionary measures
Use with caution in chronic heart failure, liver failure, bronchial asthma, in elderly patients (high risk of developing severe bradycardia), under the age of 18 years (efficacy and safety of use have not been established).
Should not be used in patients with severe respiratory failure.
Before starting the use of amiodarone, an X-ray examination of the lungs and thyroid function should be performed, if necessary, electrolyte disturbances should be corrected.
With long-term treatment, regular monitoring of thyroid function, consultations Bio-Amiodarone an ophthalmologist and an X-ray of the lungs are necessary.
Parenteral administration can only be used in specialized departments of hospitals under the constant monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate and ECG.
Patients receiving amiodarone should avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
With the abolition of amiodarone, relapses of heart rhythm disturbances are possible.
May have an effect on thyroid accumulation test results.
Amiodarone should not be used simultaneously with quinidine, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, digoxin, coumarin, doxepin.
