Warnings
Tell your doctor if you have ever had tuberculosis or if anyone in your household has tuberculosis. Also tell your doctor if you have recently traveled. Tuberculosis and some fungal infections are more common in certain parts of the world, and you may have been exposed during travel.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
- heart disease, high blood pressure;
- a thyroid disorder;
- a parasite infection that causes diarrhea (such as threadworms);
- herpes infection of the eyes;
- a muscle disorder such as myasthenia gravis;
- kidney disease;
- cirrhosis or other liver disease;
- mental illness or psychosis;
- a stomach ulcer, diverticulitis, colostomy or ileostomy;
- a perforation (a hole or tear) in your stomach or your intestines;
- malaria; or
- osteoporosis or low bone mineral density (steroid medication can increase your risk of bone loss).
It is not known whether betamethasone will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
Interactions
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents (COX-2 Selective): Corticosteroids (Systemic) may enhance the adverse/toxic effect of Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents (COX-2 Selective). Monitor therapy
Sipuleucel-T: Immunosuppressants may diminish the therapeutic effect of Sipuleucel-T. Management: Evaluate patients to see if it is medically appropriate to reduce or discontinue therapy with immunosuppressants prior to initiating sipuleucel-T therapy. Consider therapy modification
Cladribine: May enhance the immunosuppressive effect of Immunosuppressants. Avoid combination

- Diabetes mellitus;
- Psychoses;
- Myasthenia gravis;

- Hypersensitivity to corticosteroids.
Betamethasone is not given intraarticularly when:
- Joint instability;
Betagent - Infected lesions;
- Clotting disorders;
- Periarticular infection.
Betamethasone ointment, as well Betagent cream and lotion can not be used:
- In patients with high sensitivity to the components of the drug;
- With skin tuberculosis;
- With viral and fungal diseases of the skin and scalp;
- With chickenpox;
- With pink eels;
- With vesicular lichen;
- With common acne;
- In children under the age of one year.
Pregnancy and lactation
During the period of gestation and during breastfeeding, Betamethasone in the form of tablets and injection is not recommended.
Special studies to investigate the safety of using local Betamethasone-based products (ointment, cream, lotion) during pregnancy and lactation have not been conducted. Therefore, their use can be justified only if the benefit to the mother is higher than the risk to the health of the child.
