Overview
GCS therapy can mask the symptoms of a current bacterial / fungal infection, the presence of which is an indication for the use of prednisolone as part of complex therapy with topical antibiotics.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
According to the instructions, Prednisolone, used systemically, can cause dizziness and other adverse reactions that can affect coordination of movements, reaction speed and concentration of Be-Tabs, therefore, it is not recommended to drive vehicles and maintain mechanical equipment during therapy.
After instillation of the prednisolone suspension, lacrimation is possible, in connection with which the procedure should not be carried out immediately before performing potentially dangerous types of work.
Data on the effects of prednisolone in the form of an ointment on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms are not available.
Pregnancy and lactation
The use of prednisolone systemically and locally, in the form of eye drops during pregnancy, is possible according to vital indications if there is a justifiable excess of the expected benefit to the mother over the potential risk to the fetus.
Long-term systemic therapy of corticosteroids in pregnant women does not exclude the possibility of impaired fetal growth. The use of prednisolone in the III trimester increases the risk of atrophy of the adrenal prednisone of the fetus, and therefore, a newborn may need to undergo replacement therapy.
Apply prednisone locally recommended as short a course as possible, apply ointment to small areas of the skin surface.
GCS is excreted in breast milk, so when used during breastfeeding, precautions must be observed, in particular, do not apply ointment to the skin of the mammary gland shortly before feeding. If systemic use of the drug is necessary during lactation, or when prednisolone ointment is applied to the skin in large doses and / or for an extended period, breast-feeding should be interrupted for the duration of therapy.
Use in childhood
In component, corticosteroids are used only according to absolute indications, under the close supervision of a doctor, since they can cause growth retardation in children and adolescents. Typically, the risk of prednisone such a side effect avoids or minimizes the appointment of prednisone every other day.
For children who were in the process of treatment in contact with infected measles or chicken pox, prophylaxis requires specific immunoglobulins.
The size of the ratio of Be-Tabs to body weight in children is greater than in adults, therefore they are more at risk of suppressing the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and the development of hypercorticism syndrome due to the use of any corticosteroids for local use. Moreover, in infants, diapers, diapers and skin folds can have a similar effect to the occlusive dressing, thereby increasing the systemic resorption of prednisolone.
In prednisone and adolescence, Prednisone should be used in the minimum effective dose, the shortest possible course, and always under the supervision of a specialist.
With impaired renal function
Tablets and prednisolone solution are not prescribed for patients with severe renal failure and with nephrourolithiasis.
With impaired liver function
Tablets and prednisolone solution are not prescribed for patients with severe liver failure.
Use in old age
When using corticosteroids in old age, the frequency of adverse reactions increases.
Drug interaction
Due to the high pharmacological activity, prednisone, like other corticosteroids, can weaken or enhance the component of many drugs / drugs. If it is necessary to use a solution, tablets or eye drops, prednisolone in combination with other drugs, the attending physician should consider and take into account their possible interaction.
There are no data on the drug interaction of the ointment.
Due to the possible pharmaceutical incompatibility of the prednisolone solution with other intravenous drugs, it is recommended that it be administered separately: bolus, or through another dropper. Mixing solutions of prednisolone and heparin occurs with the formation of a precipitate.
